A new pro-democracy and good governance advocacy mass group, New Direction for Nigeria Movement (NEDMO), has condemned what it termed ‘the pollution of the country’s democratic environment’ by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
NEDMO is a mass movement advocating for competent, credible, capable, patriotic and intelligent leadership with unblemished integrity to be Nigeria’s President as from 2027.
The group also aims at organizing Nigerians into a mass voting bloc to guide citizens to reject bad leaders and vote for those that are best inclined to govern the country effectively.
In a Press Release signed by the group’s Convener, Comrade Mark Adebayo, in Abuja, Thursday June 22, NEDMO emphasized the importance of Nigerians ensuring that Tinubu does not continue beyond 2027.
NEDMO said: “It is difficult in the current situation that we have found ourselves in this country to wish Nigerians a ‘happy democracy day’, but we owe it a duty to address fellow Nigerians, nonetheless. This is basically due to the current atrocious economic policies of the Tinubu administration and the aggressive pollution of our democratic environment by the antidemocratic actions of the same government.
“The Tinubu administration has long abandoned governance by concentrating solely on the politics of how to rig the next elections and how the president could remain in power even beyond 2031, and the main thrust of that unconstitutional agenda is by turning Nigeria into a one-party state as currently being orchestrated via sponsoring crises in major opposition political Parties. The reality on ground is that Nigerians have overwhelmingly rejected president Tinubu’s atrocious economic policies, incompetence, and tribalism in appointments even worse than his predecessor, General Muhammadu Buhari. If his policies have been rejected by the majority of the citizens as seen today, it goes without saying that Tinubu cannot win in a free, fair, and credible election in 2027.
“The biggest coalition that will defeat President Tinubu in 2027 is a pan-Nigerian coalition of the Nigerian masses that is currently augmenting nationwide albeit silently but steadily.
“We urge all Nigerians to ensure that everyone of voting age registers to vote and use their permanent voter’s card to drive away bad governance from our national space in 2027. We must make sure to vote for a credible president with moral and public service integrity by rejecting, in its totality, the current rot, corruption, incompetence, insecurity, hunger, unemployment, and retrogressive leadership. It is time for a new and better direction for Nigeria. Join hands with us to give Nigeria a patriotic, humane, and competent president in 2027.”
NEDMO is said to have structures in the 774 LGAs of Nigeria with a fast-growing in membership.
