The Ogun State Police Command says it arrested the driver who drove the SUV that crashed with Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua, and killed the sportsman’s two friends
He was not named by police.
However, the vehicle was a Lexus SUV coloured black.
The former World Heavyweight Champion had escaped death in the fatal road crash which occurred on Monday along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
While Joshua had survived the crash with minor injuries, he however lost his coach and personal trainer who died in the accident.
He was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.
Ogun Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said that the driver behind the fatal crash had been arrested and detained.
Babaseyi made the disclosure in a post shared on his X handle on Thursday.
He said investigation is still ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to the crash.
Babaseyi wrote: “The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case. Investigations are ongoing.”
