The police command in Lagos has confirmed the death of an unnamed 58-year-old male, on the 19th day of a “dry fasting” in the Alagbado area of Alimosho Council.
His younger brother reported the demise to the police, who have said they suspected no foul play.
He apparently embarked on the fasting exercise that entails not drinking water or eating food.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
SP Hundeyin noted that the incident occurred at about 6 am on Monday in the Alagbado area of Lagos.
He stated, “The deceased’s younger brother whose name was not also mentioned, reported the incident at the Alagbado Police Division at about 7 pm on Monday.
“The younger brother said his brother died while allegedly on 19 days of dry fasting.
“No foul play suspected, family demands to convey the corpse for burial.”
