Edo State’s Governor Monday Okpebholo has warned his commissioners to wear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s signature ‘Asiwaju Cap’ or be evicted from their weekly Executive Council meeting.
The Governor gave the order on Tuesday, at the swearing in of 20 new commissioners and members of various boards in the state.
Okpebholo said: “First of all, before we begin I want to say that this couldn’t have happened if we did not have a responsible President. We have done so many elections here. The major problem we had was the President is not with us.
“So, let me tell you, before we begin, you see this cap I am wearing? I will not forgive any Commissioner that is not wearing it.
“In Exco if you are not wearing a suit, and you are wearing a traditional dress, and you are coming to the Exco without this Asiwaju cap, you are going back.”
A notice by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government, said the Governor had approved a comprehensive restructuring of the state ministries.
Ikhilor said: “This strategic reform is designed to mirror the structure at the Federal level and ensure the seamless alignment of the Governor’s SHINE Agenda with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“In view of this strategic positioning, the Governor has approved the creation of additional Ministries and the revival of some defunct ones, bringing the total number of Ministries in Edo State to twenty-eight (28).
