Angry residents of the university town of Ekpoma, Edo State, have attacked Fulani settlements over numerous cases of kidnappings.
The protesters accused the state’s Governor Monday Okpebholo of turning deaf ears to the rampant kidnappings, in which some victims were killed by their abductors.
Violence erupted on Saturday 10th January when the youth took to the streets to destroy properties belonging to Fulani people.
In a video trending online, the youths were seen attacking a goat market where they descended on the goats, killed them and carted away the meat.
Another video depicted the protesters damaging and felling a billboard having the picture of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
