#EndBadGovernance Organisers Vow To Repeat Protests From Oct 1
If…
Organisers have said the nationwide hunger protests of August 1-10 would be held again on October 1 if the government refuses to make changes.
Their requests, among others, include:
** Return of removed fuel subsidies
** Reversal of newly introduced and higher electricity tariff
** Reducing the cost of running the government.
Omoyele Sowore, the Action Alliance Congress (AAC) presidential candidate and a key organiser, made the announcement in an interview on News Central TV.
According to him, ongoing meetings between organisers have been focused on strategising the next phase of the protests.
“This protest will resume at the beginning of October and might even start earlier depending on situational variables,” he said.
The protests are premised on getting government to several policies causing unusual hardship.
