Ex-Gov Jakande’s Son Seyi Wins Council Chairmanship As APC Sweeps Lagos Council Elections
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has announced the results of the local government elections in the state, which took place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, across all the wards and council areas in Lagos state.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) swept the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas in the elections.
Seyi Jakande, son of the late Lagos State Governor Alhaji Lateef Jakande, was among the winners, having been elected Chairman for Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA.
According to LASIEC, Jakande of APC secured 58,446 votes, with PDP trailing with 1,743 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) polled 1,464 votes.
Seyi, the third son of the former Governor, had previously served as the Vice Chairman of the LCDA.
LASIEC declared that the APC won all the chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship seats.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won only a single councilor seat at Ward D in Yaba.
According to LASIEC, 15 out of the 19 registered political parties in the country were confirmed to contest the chairmanship and councillorship positions.
Winners will be sworn in later this month.

- Ejigbo LCDA – Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo
- Epe LGA – Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun
- Eti-Osa East LCDA – Hon. Billiaminu Samson Agunbiade
- Eti-Osa West LCDA: Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Kayode Yemaren – Chairman-Elect
- Ifako-Ijaiye LGA – Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat
- Igando-Ikotun LCDA – Snr Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya
