Ex-Gov Yahaya Bello, Facing Trial For N80bn Fraud, Guns For Senator Natasha’s Senate Seat

Kogi State’s former Governor Yahaya Bello has unveiled plans to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 currently occupied by Senator Mrs. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who clinched the position in the 2023 elections.

 

Currently enmeshed in a corruption trial, the former Governor said he had accepted calls from supporters to seek election to the Senate and expressed his readiness to represent Kogi Central at the National Assembly.

Confusion Over Ex-Gov Yahaya Bello’s Visit To EFCC On N80.2bn Fraud

“I accept to run for the Senate in 2027,” he stated.

Bello opened up on his intention in a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders from the senatorial district.

Present at the occasion was Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, as well as several political leaders and community representatives.

Bello was Governor from 2016 to 2024. The Kogi Central Senatorial District is currently represented by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who won the seat in the 2023 elections.
