Why it DOESN’T Make Sense For Dangote Refinery To Sell Fuel At More Than N100/Liter
1. If before Dangote Refinery, we were paying LESS than N200/liter for IMPORTED fuel, does it make sense that we are now paying over N1k/liter?
2. If before Dangote Refinery came on stream, we were TOLD that over 50% of our FOREX was being USED to IMPORT fuel, and that’s why the naira was having ISSUES against the dollar… Are we STILL using that over 50% in a Dangote Refinery environment?
3. Before his refinery came on Dangote told us, his refinery will SAVE Nigeria over $17 billion annually (and he may not be exaggerating). Now that his refinery is on, what’s the STORY on our forex now
4. Finally, before or after Dangote Refinery activation, NNPCL was running on Direct Sale Direct Purchase (DSDP)… Call it CRUDE SWAP or trade by barter; where NNPCL supplies crude to the Refiner in RETURN for refined products. We have NOT being told yet; that they’ve exited that arrangement. And you MUST know that they have NEVER exceeded the LESS than 400bpd of our Domestic Crude Allocation (DCA) according to their books ooo
5. Anyhow you want to look at it, does it make sense to continue to send our DCA outside (that is if they are still doing it)…
6. Does it not MAKE SENSE that the DCA, which you were sending outside in the name of crude swap, should now be given to Dangote Refinery on the SAME DSDP! So you can get Dangote Refinery to sell to Nigerians CHEAPER?
7. Talking about cheaper… If we were paying LESS than N200 per liter (as the FINAL end-user PRICE) and government was COMPLAINING of paying too HIGH a subsidy for which Tinubu announced FUEL SUBSIDY IS GONE… Have you CONSIDERED, for a bit, that NNPC must have BOUGHT the fuel at a far cheaper FACTORY (in this case, Refinery) Price?
8. So, let’s say worst case scenario, refiner’s price per liter was N70/liter… Dangote Refinery is here at Lekki and he can get same DCA approved for the foreign Refiners, if jagaban go gree am … Don’t you now see the SENSE in why Dangote Refinery CANNOT sell beyond N100/liter
9. After all, Dangote Refinery could EASILY be one of Refiners in Malta Europe ENJOYING our DCA for FREE!
