The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 Lagos State Governorship Candidate, Dr. Olajide Adediran, popularly known as JANDOR, has left the platform.
JANDOR, who ran the race alongside Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele (Jenifa), as Running Mate, made the announcement today Monday during a Press Conference in Ikeja, Lagos.
Jenifa was not present at the event.
Adediran said he was leaving the PDP along with his supporters across the 20 local government areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.
“After deep reflection and extensive consultation with my family, political associates and supporters, we have made the difficult decision to resign from the People’s Democratic Party,” he said.
In the media briefing held at his campaign office in Ikeja on Monday, Jandor lamented his inability to actualize his political ambition in the PDP, as well as the crisis currently ravaging the party.
The former governorship flag-bearer said that despite complaints by members, the PDP failed to take action against several chieftains who sabotaged its candidates chances in the 2023 general election in Lagos State.
He accused the saboteurs of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and expressed fears that the situation would not change in 2027.
Jandor noted that the PDP had failed to uphold internal discipline among its members.
He said: “We have dedicated ourselves to the ideals of democracy, good governance and the pursuit of a better Lagos Lagos.
“However, it has become evident that the leadership of the People’s both at state and national levels has failed to uphold these principles.
“The persistent anti-party activities, internal sabotage, and lack of discipline within the party have severely undermined our collective efforts and made it impossible for genuine progress to be achieved.”
