President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has scrapped both the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development.
According to Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the development was part of an expected reshuffling and was unveiled on Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
Writing on X Twitter, Onanuga said: “There will now be a Ministry of Regional Development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, North East Development Commission.
“The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.”
Onanuga further announced the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
While Abubakar Momoh had been Niger Delta Affairs Minister, John Enoh was Minister of Sports Development.
