RSIEC said the Action Peoples Party (APP) won 22 of the 23 local governments.

Fubara expressed happiness at the success of the council polls, and appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being a democrat.

He assured Mohammed of remaining a member of PDP, but emphasised that a desperate situation required desperate action.

According to him, what his administration did with the support of the people was to salvage the local government councils.

Fubara advised the new chairmen to see themselves as servants and not emperors, saying the local government areas need development and charged them to work for the people who are the real political structure.

Enebeli said that only in Etche Local Government Area were the results collation not yet concluded.
