Of the 14 passengers in the vehicle, eight were rescued, two managed to escape, three were killed, and one remains unaccounted for.

NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau expressed deep sorrow over the incident while extending condolences to the families of the deceased.

“While we won the match and claimed three points, the loss of these lives casts a shadow on our victory. It’s difficult to celebrate knowing what has happened,” Gusau remarked.

He praised SuperSport for its longstanding partnership with Nigerian football, emphasizing the broadcaster’s professionalism and commitment to delivering high-quality sports coverage.

“SuperSport has been an unwavering partner, helping to bring the joy of football to millions of Nigerians. We share in their grief during this difficult time,” Gusau added.

The NFF also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of security forces to locate the remaining missing crew member, expressing hope for a safe reunion with his family.

SuperSport was yet to issue an official statement.
