Nigerian celebrity cook Hilda Baci undertook her ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The chef is aiming to prepare the massive dish using an astonishing 250 bags of rice.
A massive crowd was captured forcing their way through the gates of the fenced venue, while security officials and uniformed personnel struggled to control the movement. Despite the chaos, the atmosphere was filled with excitement as fans cheered and sang in support of Hilda.
Hilda, who shot to international fame in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, unveiled this new challenge at Eko Hotel, Lagos, where a lively crowd of fans and supporters gathered to witness history in the making.
In a heartfelt moment before the cooking began, Hilda and her mother prayed together, asking for divine strength, protection, and endurance. The touching scene moved many spectators, who hailed her mother as one of the strongest pillars behind her success.
Sharing a glimpse of the preparations, Hilda wrote: “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof—history in the making.”
The event, originally scheduled to hold at Muri Okunola Park, was relocated to Eko Hotel due to overwhelming public interest, with more than 20,000 people registering to attend.
Hilda, who already holds the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, is now aiming to set another record with the biggest pot of jollof rice.
She received overwhelming support from Nigerians, particularly in Lagos, where thousands gathered to witness history in the making.
Though some people suggested the large turnout was motivated by the desire for free food, others strongly disagreed, insisting that Hilda’s fan base is truly organic, with supporters drawn by love, admiration, and pride for her achievements.
