The decomposing body of Anambra State lawmaker, Justice Azuka, kidnapped on Christmas Eve has been found dumped by his abductors on the Second Niger Bridge.
A joint security team found Azuka’s body today Thursday.
Abducted on the 24th of December 2024 along Ugwunaobankpa Road while returing home for Christmas, the late lawmaker served in the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Onitsha 1 North Constituency.
He was abducted at gunpoint in a swift operation that lasted less than five minutes.
Confirming the discovery of Azuka’s body to newsmen, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the joint security team found the decomposing corpse during a routine patrol.
“In the early hours of today, 6/2/2025 at the second Niger Bridge, the Joint Security Team comprising of Police and AVG Operatives on a mission to rescue abducted Hon. Azuka, Honourable State House of Assembly member representing Onitsha North, regrettably found his lifeless body at the scene.
“As soon as I get more details, I will keep you updated, as the joint security team have taken over the scene and operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspects involved, please.” Ikenga said.
According to reports, Azuka had contested in the 2023 election under the Labour Party (LP).
He was initially defeated by Hon. Douglas Egbuna of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
However, Azuka regained his mandate after a court ruling ousted Egbuna.
