Kidnapped National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Abba Musa, who was rumoured killed by his abductors, has finally regained his freedom after spending months in captivity in the hands of terrorists.

Musa was released on Wednesday after prolonged negotiations after being kidnapped on January 9, 2026, and held by armed abductors who initially demanded ransom.

Sources say a payment was made by his family, but further demands followed during negotiations, including requests for motorcycles.

Sources confirmed that he was freed recently, although details surrounding his release—such as whether a ransom was paid or if security operatives were involved—remain unclear at the time of filing this report.

Family members and close associates have expressed relief and gratitude over his safe return, describing the development as a huge emotional moment after weeks of fear and uncertainty.

NYSC Member Abba Musa Usman Regains Freedom After Months in Captivity

Zamfara State, April 1, 2026 — Abba Musa Usman, an NYSC corps member abducted in January while travelling from Gusau to Sokoto in Zamfara State, has been released after months in captivity.

A proof-of-life video surfaced in March showing him alive but weakened, which renewed efforts to secure his release.

He was eventually freed after continued negotiations and the fulfilment of remaining demands.

Usman has since reunited with his family and is receiving medical care.
