The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has said workers’ demand for N250,000 as minimum wage was maintained in their meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu had, at the Thursday meeting in Aso Rock that lasted for about one hour, said he needed time to make consultation with other stakeholders before sending the bill for the new minimum wage to National Assembly.
Addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting between labour leaders and the Nigerian President, Ajaero said labour leaders went for “discussion, not negotiation.”
According to him, meetings on the issue had been slated to continue next week.
Backing Ajaero, his counterpart in the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo, said they discussed with the President, who, thereafter also made his remarks.
