Four soldiers were feared dead after a vehicle driven by suspected Yahoo Boys crashed into their morning drill at Myoung Barracks, in Shomolu area of Lagos
“There’s blood everywhere. I was spared because I was at the back,” one of the soldiers recounted.
Many others were injured after the suspected drunk driver rammed into them during a jogging exercise.
The drunk driver, it was learnt, rammed into the soldiers during their monthly road jogging exercise outside the barracks in the early hours of Friday.
An eyewitness living in the area said the driver of the Toyota vehicle conveying three young men drove recklessly before ramming into the soldiers.
The vehicle had three young men suspected to be Yahoo Boys (internet fraudsters) racing at top speed before ramming into the exercising soldiers near the Myoung Barracks Army Sports Camp.
One of the suspects fled the scene, while the other two were caught, beaten unconscious, and their vehicle vandalized.
One of the young men was said to have also been stabbed by the irate mob.
The eyewitness added that the incident has caused panic among residents in the area.
The Nigerian Army has yet to issue any statement on the incident, as of the time of filing this report.
