The only son of former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has died.
Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire reportedly died in the early hours of last week Wednesday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following a surgical procedure.
He was a UK-based medical doctor.
Victoria Adejoke Adefulire (née Orelope) served as Deputy Governor of Lagos State from 2011 to 2015, with Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.
Ahead of that, she was the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation of Lagos State from 2003 to 2011 and later in 2016 served as Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The development was confirmed by a family source, who described the incident as a devastating loss to both the family and the wider political community in Lagos.
He was based in the United Kingdom and is survived by his wife and children.
The Lagos political community has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden death of Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, the only son of former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.
The circumstances surrounding the surgery remain unclear, but family sources confirmed that his death was unexpected and devastating. He is survived by his wife and children.
The news has sent shockwaves across Lagos, particularly within the All Progressives Congress (APC), where Orelope-Adefulire remains a prominent figure and respected political leader. Party members, associates, and supporters have continued to express disbelief at the tragic loss.
In a condolence message issued on last Thursday, APC Lagos spokesperson Seye Oladejo described the incident as “the kind of tragedy most dreadful for parents,” noting that the entire party structure was shaken by the news.
“It’s sadly true. APC is devastated,” Oladejo said, adding that “Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is an exceptionally good person. The entire party has been thrown into mourning over this humongous tragedy. May his precious soul rest in peace.”
