Liberia, Nigeria Govts Exchange Controversial Letters Over Primate Ayodele’s Prophecy On President Boakai
The Government of the Republic of Liberia has written a letter of public concern to the government of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the prophecies of the Nigerian Founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Lagos, Primate Elijah Ayodele.
The letter stated that Ayodele’s prophecies focused on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s government and the people of Liberia in a negative way.
The letter further stated that such utterances concerning Liberia as contained in publications and videos being circulated by Ayodele had given rise to antiNigerian sentiment amongst Liberians and were capable of disrupting the peace and tranquility of the people of Liberia.
It accused Ayodele of meddling in the political affairs of Liberia and the 2023 election wherein he allegedly publicly endorsed one of the presidential candidates.
According to the letter, while the government of Liberia recognised the commitment of Nigeria to freedom of expression and religion, statements about a friendly nation should be expressed with utmost caution and therefore urged the relevant authorities in Nigeria to act accordingly.
In reply, the foreign affairs ministry made it clear that the matter raised did not fall within the constitutional and diplomatic mandate of the ministry, more so as the Nigerian government did not censor citizen’s expressions in so far as they were not libelous.
Moreover, the ministry said that the issue raised was a private matter.
It said that Nigeria remained strongly committed to its long-standing relationship with the Republic of Liberia and trusted that bilateral engagements between the two countries would continue to focus on matters properly attributed to the respective governments and genuine mutual concerns.
On his part, Primate Ayodele disclosed how he warned George Weah that he would lose the 2023 election, “I said it, if this election goes for second phase, you will lose.”
Talking to the current Liberian President, he said, “You are talking when you don’t have anything, you don’t have record of anything, you are talking to a man of God of repute, go to the internet. One, you don’t have work. Joseph, if you were a young man I would have compared you to something that would reduce your office to nothingness.
“Liberian problem is not enough for you, and you sit down to analyse my prophecies, don’t worry, I am coming.
“When I warned George Weah, he refused to heed to my warning, I told him, if you allow the opposition to win the election, see what will happen to your President.
“I have your details, I prayed about you. Let me now tell you, ask late Solomon George, he consulted me for you, I consulted the Liberia Vice President then, he did not listen. Well that is how we make that prophecy to come to pass.
“Don’t worry yourself for second term, already you have lost the second term.”
