LP, PDP House Of Reps Lawmakers Cross To Other Parties

The House of Representatives resumed plenary after a long recess with eight honourable members announcing their defection from their political parties to new ones.

Six members of the House from Delta State formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the same vein,.two lawmakers from Enugu State left the Labour Party to join the PDP.

Their defection letters were read on the floor by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.

Leading the defectors from Delta State was Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi), the longest-serving member of the House and Leader of the Southern regional caucus. Mutu has represented his constituency under the PDP platform since 1999.

Other defecting members included Nnamdi Ezechi (Ndokwa/Nkwuani), Jonathan Okodiko (Isoko), Thomas Ereyitomi (Warri), Julius Pondi (Burutu), and Victor Nwokolo (Ika North and South).

The Labour Party members defecting to the PDP are Mark Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South of Enugu state and Dennis Agbo (Igbo Eze North/Udenu).

The defectors hinged their decisions on the lingering crisis in both the PDP and the LP, and the need to find a more conducive platform to represent their constituents.
