The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the death of Professor Ruth Haruna Wazis, of the University of Maiduguri, in a freak car accident at her home.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Lawal said that the former Head of UNIMAID’s Department of Business Management was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly.
The car knocked her to the ground and the tyres ran over her body.
He said that she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries before being taken to the hospital.
The police boss added that her remains were taken to the hospital by members of her family.
