Monday Is Public Holiday For Prophet Muhammad’s Birth Eid-ul-Mawlid

Nigeria has declared Monday, September 16, a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In a statement released by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, the Minister Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to all Muslim Ummah.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged Muslims and Nigerians at large to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice and resilience during this period and use the Eid-ul-Mawlid celebrations as an opportunity to pray for the peace and continued prosperity of Nigeria.
