A JOY THAT TURNED INTO EVERLASTING TEARS 💔

Yesterday felt like the beginning of a new chapter for my elder sister, Olivea. She came home glowing with joy, her eyes shining brighter than I had seen in years.

After endless nights of struggle, silent tears, and relentless hard work, she finally got the news she had prayed for — a promotion, a permanent contract, and a double salary. We screamed. We laughed. We thanked God. It felt like heaven had finally remembered her.

Olivea deserved it more than anyone I know.

She had carried the weight of life alone. A single mother since the day she discovered she was pregnant with twins, abandoned by the very man who helped create them.

Two years of sacrifice, strength, and sleepless nights. I moved in with her to help care for the boys so she could chase this dream. Yesterday, it felt like all her pain finally made sense.

She was in such a hurry, too excited to even eat. She bathed quickly, dressed up, and told me she was going to an end-of-year party with her colleagues at a nearby snack bar. She said she wouldn’t be back early.

But my heart was restless.
Something didn’t feel right. I begged her not to go. I told her about the dream I had the night before — our late mother, gone for 11 years now, holding her tightly. My spirit was heavy. To me, it felt like a warning. A goodbye.
She smiled and told me not to worry. “Maybe mummy is just saying Happy New Year,” she said.

She left at 7:15 PM.

I bathed the boys, fed them, and put them to sleep by 8:15 PM. I tried to watch a movie, but peace refused to come. My heart kept racing. I kept checking my phone. Fear sat beside me like an unwanted guest.

Then there was a knock.

It was Olivea.

Relief washed over me — but it didn’t last. She rushed past me, weak and trembling, saying she felt terribly sick. Severe stomach pain. She didn’t even change her clothes. She didn’t ask about her children. That wasn’t my sister.
Things escalated fast.

While she was in the toilet, she asked me to get her medicine. I ran as fast as I could to the street and back — but when I returned, my world collapsed. Olivea was on the floor. Unresponsive. Foam and blood coming from her mouth and nostrils. I screamed. I shook her. No response.

Neighbors rushed in. We carried her to the hospital. Oxygen was placed. Doctors ran around her.

Then the words that shattered my soul forever…

She didn’t make it.

At 11:46 PM, my sister was pronounced dead.

She didn’t even live to see the New Year. 💔😭

This morning, her colleagues came in tears and disbelief. They said she was perfectly fine when she left the party.

Yesterday, we were celebrating her breakthrough.

Today, I am planning her burial.
Her twin boys are here with me — laughing, playing, innocent… not knowing their mother is gone forever.

Life is cruel.

Joy is fragile.

And tomorrow is never promised. 💔

Please… love harder, pray deeper, and never ignore your instincts.

Rest in peace, my sister.

Your pain is over. 🕊️😭
