Nigeria’s Non-Oil Exports Hit Record $1.7bn In Q1, Highest In 49 Years

Cocoa and its derivatives accounted for 45 per cent of the lot. Products such as cashew nuts, sesame seeds, aluminium and copper ingots, soybeans, and rubber also topped the list of exports.

Nonye Ayeni, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council executive director, said the value of non-oil exports recorded in the first quarter was 24.75 percent higher than the corresponding value in the first quarter of 2024.

Posting on his X handle, Presidential Spokesman, Bay Onanuga, attributed the bulk of the success to agricultural and processed commodities.

Onanuga quoted Ayeni as saying that the year-on-year increase was the highest since the council was created 49 years ago.
