The Nigerian police high command has issued a fresh date of September 25 for the interrogation of the President and the Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrades Joe Ajaero and Emmanuel Ugboaja.
Police allege Ajaero and Ugboaja are suspected of terrorism financing, cybercrime and subversion.
The fresh date came after both failed to honour last Thursday’s appointment at the police headquarters in Abuja.
According to NLC, the two unionists earlier wrote investigators that they would not be available for Thursday.
Their counsel, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), who had escorted Ajaero to the police headquarters for his first appearance on August 29, said: “We wrote for another date as Comrade Joe Ajaero has an engagement outside Abuja today.”
The police are alleging a link between the labour leader and a Briton, Andrew Wynne, who is a tenant and runs a bookshop in the NLC complex.
Wynne was declared wanted for alleged financing the recent #EndBadGovernance protest in the country and plotting to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Declaring his innocence, Wynne, from hiding, said he turning himself over to the Nigerian police could result in his being tortured and killed.
