National Spokesperson for the opposition Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, Comrade Mark Adebayo, has said that considering what currently obtains on Nigeria’s political terrain, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is already poised to win the 2027 presidential election.
He made this statement in Abuja on Wednesday January 4th while delivering a speech as the keynote speaker at the 10th anniversary of the Campaign for The Rights of Homeless.
“The question is what magic are we going to perform to win next year’s election considering the level unpreparedness, lack of solid mobilization of Nigerians, the absence of unity of purpose to support one opposition candidate due to the rat race of everyone wanting to run? There is no consensus to queue behind one opposition candidate to win.
“There is too much selfishness in the opposition that, instead for the others to step down and pool resources to support just one candidate, about ten aspirants want to run against a president who consolidates his support base everyday whilst the opposition remains in a state of flux.
“It makes me so angry when I see that we are just behaving as if elections are tea parties. They are not! Elections are serious businesses meant for those determined to emerge winners. The president is a master in this game and it is clear that the opposition lacks the superior mastery to successfully contend with him on the political field. All elements favour the president to win and he is evidently superior in the area of strategy far more than the opposition, that is even if we have a strategy at all.
“Therefore, why even drag the second term with the president? It’s unnecessary, in my opinion. How many Governors, both serving and former, are not in the APC today? How many Senators and House of Representatives members are still in the opposition? The opposition is severely depleted and we should stop deceiving ourselves. I’ll advise that the opposition invest the next five years to prepare for the 2031 general elections. 2027 is gone, done, and dusted for President Tinubu!”, he opined.
