President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, at the monarch’s palace.
However, at Press time, there had been no inkling as to discussions at the visit that happened on Friday.
The visit was the former President’s first after the installation of Oba Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo in April, 2025.
Obasanjo was accompanied on the visit by his daughter, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, among few other eminent dignitaries on his entourage.
The visit comes at the time Oba Owoade challenged the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi on the latter’s authority to install Ibadan-born businessman, Engr Dotun Sanusi as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, maintaining that the Ooni cannot confer a chieftaincy title with Yorubaland’s coverage.
