Former First Lady of Ondo State, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, says she has no regrets marrying the Late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, despite their different backgrounds.
She shared this on Instagram, saying that Imo State in the South-East is her home and that this is not up for debate.
Betty, who plans to run for a Senate seat in the upcoming election, said her marriage across the Niger has given her wider experience, but it has not changed her roots.
She added that she is ready for the role, saying her time as First Lady of Ondo State helped her better understand grassroots politics and improve how she connects with people from all walks of life.
She wrote, “Imo Is Home.
“My roots are not up for debate.
“I am proudly from Imo State, Owerri zone, Owerri West local government and Emeabiam – my small London. My marriage across the Niger, I do not regret. It has given me broader experience but it has not erased my roots.
“My selfless service as First Lady of Ondo State has further enlarged my understanding of grassroots politics and enriched my approach to engaging people across all social strata.
“If anything, these experiences have prepared me better to serve. My quest for Imo East Senatorial seat is a BIG DEAL. Remember I am ADA OWERE I. So I am going back home, not just to belong, but to join hands to rebuild Imo State.
“Home is where you are valued and I believe where you can serve best.”
