Gunmen attacked a family in Owo, Ondo state and abducted a well-known transporter, Muihili Adebayo, after killing his son and leaving his wife critically injured from gunshot wounds.
A family member who preferred to remain anonymous confirmed that the kidnappers have reached out, demanding a ₦20 million ransom for Adebayo’s release.
The Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident, saying the tactical squads of the command are working towards rescuing the victim.
Sources in town said the shot woman was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo for treatment.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Adebayo’s residence in the Shagari area of Owo Local Government Area.
The gunmen reportedly invaded the home of Adebayo and marched him out.
While following the gunmen to rescue the abducted husband, the wife was shot.
A bullet accidentally hit the boy nearby and killed him on the spot.
She was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, where she has been in coma since then.
Police are yet to comment on the incident that has shaken the entire ancient town.
