The Publisher of Freedom Online, Gabriel Akinadewo, has lost his son, Washington Oluwagbenga.
Aged 21, Washington died on Sunday, December 28, in Lagos at a private hospital after a brief illness.
Washington just completed his university education in Information Technology at a private university in Lagos and was preparing to proceed on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) one-year programme in January.
He has since been buried.
Condolences have been pouring in for the family of the deceased.
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has condoled with Akinadewo, Publisher of Freedom Online, on the passage.
The Guild expressed its condolences in a letter signed by its President, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, Mni and its General Secretary, Sufuyan Ojeifo.
The GOCOP executives described Oluwagbenga’s death as saddening and tragic, adding that his passing is a huge loss to the his family and friends.
The letter read in part: “Washington’s life, though cut short, was a testament to his potential and promise. His impending National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in January 2026, consequent upon his graduation from the University of Lagos, where he studied Information Technology, was a milestone that symbolised his dedication to scholarship and nation-building. His passing is a profound loss to your family, the online publishing community, and the nation at large.
“In this dark hour, we find solace in the memories of Washington’s life, his accomplishments, and the legacy he leaves behind. May these memories bring you comfort and strength, and may the Almighty God grant you, your wife, and loved ones the fortitude to navigate this difficult time”.
GOCOP prayed for the repose of Oluwagbenga’s soul and for God’s protection over his family and loved ones.
