Galatasaray have won the Turkish Cup for the 20th time, extending their status as record winners ahead of Besiktas (11 wins).
The Istanbul club on Wednesday evening won the final in Gaziantep against Trabzonspor 3:0, with goals from Baris Yilmaz (5th) and Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen (46th/63rd).
Osimhen scored two goals as Galatasaray defeated Trabzonspor 3-0 to win the Turkish Cup.
In the closely fought final at Gaziantep Stadium, the Turkish Super Lig leaders took the lead in the fifth minute through Barıs Alper Yılmaz.
Osimhen’s brace makes it his 39th goal and seven assists for Galatasaray this season so far.
Despite a strong response from the Black Sea Storm, they couldn’t equalize and went into the halftime break trailing by one goal.
Just a minute into the second half, the Nigerian international doubled his team’s lead with a brilliant volley, then scored again three minutes after the hour mark to complete his brace.
Osimhen has now won his first title in Turkey since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, and he could complete a double if Galatasaray win the league this weekend.
It didn’t take long for Gala to get going – Baris Yilmaz found the net just five minutes in, finishing off a smart pass from Yunus Akgün.
After the break, it was the Osimhen show.
He scored almost straight from kick-off in the second half, then added another just after the hour mark, bringing his season tally to a whopping 35 goals – a new record for a foreign player in a single Turkish top-flight season.
The win hands Galatasaray their 19th Turkish Cup – the most in the competition’s history. And they’re not done yet.
All eyes now turn to Sunday’s league clash with Kayserispor, where a draw at home will be enough to seal their 25th Süper Lig title.
Should they manage it, it’ll mark a domestic double for the sixth time in their history – something they last pulled off in the 2018–19 season.
