Following Pastor Chris Okafor’s public apology to actress Doris Ogala and others he claimed to have offended, his ex-wife, Agnes Bessen Okafor, has come forward with explosive allegations, dismissing the apology as insincere and accusing him of years of deception, abuse, and moral misconduct.
Speaking during a live interview on a Yoruba blogger’s platform, Agnes insisted that the apology was not an act of repentance but damage control, allegedly triggered by a viral video that surfaced online.
“He knows there is a lot on him. A whole lot. Children everywhere. That apology is not genuine,” she said.
“I LEFT HIM. HE DID NOT LEAVE ME”
Agnes revealed that she married Chris Okafor at just 18 years old in a traditional and recognized marriage that produced four children within five years. She stressed that she was a legally wedded wife—not a side partner—and that witnesses to their marriage are still alive.
She strongly denied claims that she committed adultery, maintaining that she walked away from the marriage herself because she could no longer tolerate what she described as his immoral lifestyle.
“I left him because I could not operate in his ways. I left him. He did not leave me.”
ALLEGATIONS OF INFIDELITY, ABUSE AND DECEPTION
Agnes accused Okafor of repeated infidelity, alleging that he slept with multiple women, including church members and house helps. She further alleged that some women he impregnated were married and active within his church.
She also accused him of physical abuse, stating that she has medical reports from hospitals in Nigeria and copies with her abroad.
“I have medical reports. General Hospital. King’s Hospital. Copies exist.”
Hidden Marriage and Betrayal
According to Agnes, she discovered a previous marriage certificate hidden under Okafor’s bed after their wedding—something she claims he denied when confronted.
“I married him in my prime, only to find out he had been married before. I cried.”
KIDNAPPING STORY DISPUTED
She also disputed Okafor’s account of a past kidnapping incident, stating that she sold personal belongings, emptied her bank accounts, and handed money to church elders to help secure his release—contrary to claims that she abandoned him.
NAMING NAMES AND CALLING FOR DNA TESTS
Agnes named Anita Chioma, a former deaconess, alleging that she moved into the marital home shortly after Agnes left and later confronted her in church, asking her to leave her husband alone—an incident she described as “a shame to the body of Christ.”
She demanded DNA tests to clarify paternity claims and challenged Okafor to produce the man he accused her of committing adultery with.
“If I cheated, where is the man? Bring him out.”
“SILENCE WAS NEVER WEAKNESS”
After 14 years of silence, Agnes said she chose to speak now to defend her name and protect her children, whom she claims were taken from her.
“Silence was never weakness. I waited for my children to grow. Now it’s my time to speak.”
She concluded by firmly rejecting Chris Okafor’s apology, insisting that only the full truth—not public sympathy—can bring closure.
