Rema has announced a N105-million donation to the branch of a church in his native Edo State celebrating a Thanksgiving.
The Afrobeat artist made the donation to the Christ Embassy, saying it was an expression of gratitude for the church’s support during his family’s difficult times.
In a video shared on social media, Rema recounted how the church assisted his family following the death of his father.
According to him, the church provided his mother with a shop when they found assistance from nowhere else after their bereavement.
Rema instructed that the sum be shared as:
- N40 million for church infrastructure
- N20 million for Rhapsodies of Realities, a daily devotional booklet written by Founder of the church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
- N25 million for the teen church and
- N20 million for widows in the church
Rema said in the video clip: “The church embraced me, I pledge N40 million to the infrastructure of the church, N20 million to Rhapsodies of Realities, N25 million to teen church.
“When I lost my dad, we felt alone, the church opened a shop for my mum, if there is any widow, I am pledging N20 million.”
