The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos State chapter, Honourable Philip Olabode Aivoji, has condemned in strong terms the orchestrated plans of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to deny the party candidates from participating in the forthcoming July 12, 2025 Local Government elections in Lagos State.

Aivoji, who made these remarks during a chat with newsmen on Monday, noted that with less than 12 days to the Lagos State Local Government elections, LASIEC had yet to conclude screening exercise for PDP members who were originally scheduled for such exercise on Friday, July 27, 2025.

He stressed that LASIEC made matters worse when it again turned around few days ago to claim that forms and other supporting documents of some PDP candidates earlier submitted to the commission were missing.

The Lagos State PDP Chairman described the scenario as LASIEC’s attempt to disqualify the party candidates from the elections, adding that the Lagos APC were jittery of the popularity and level of acceptance of the PDP candidates and was doing everything in connivance with the LASIEC to disqualify them in the elections.

Aivoji, therefore, reiterated the PDP’s resolve to ensure there is justice, equity and fair play in both the screening exercises and the elections as the party would not leave any stone unturned to bring LASIEC back on track.

He further assured that the leadership of the party would not rest on its oars until it ensures LASIEC conforms with relevant laws guiding the conduct of elections in the country.

“It’s very glaring to Nigerians and the international community that LASIEC is deliberately making efforts to undermine the July 12 Local Government Elections and declare the APC candidates as winners, a charade which our party will vehemently resist”, Aivoji said

The Lagos State PDP helsman, therefore, advised the LASIEC to do the needful by producing the acclaimed missing forms and supporting documents of the PDP candidates, get them transparently screened and ensure the July 12 Local Government elections are free, fair and devoid of any form of attack or intimidation of voters and opposition party members.

Aivoji stressed that if the LASIEC, however, feels ill – prepared for the July 12 Local Government elections, the electoral body should save the state from humiliation and either call for the postponement or cancellation of the exercise.
