A founding leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, says it was an error accepting Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly called Jandor, as their member and Governorship Candidate in Lagos State for the 2023 polls.
Paired as principal flag-bearer with Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele alias Jenifa (Running Mate) in the 2023 governorship elections, Jandor, this week announced his exit from the party.
Speaking during an interview with Arise TV News, George expressed regret over the decision, citing Jandor’s alleged lack of party loyalty and internal discord.
In his resignation statement, the former Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Lagos State had accused the party leadership of internal sabotage, anti-party activities, and a lack of discipline among its top figures.
He also alleged that some PDP leaders, including Chief Bode George and Lagos PDP Chairman, Philip Aivoji, actively worked against his campaign, even supporting opposition candidates during the last elections.
Responding to these allegations, Chief George dismissed Jandor’s claims, calling them baseless and unjustifiable.
He further emphasized that the party leadership had initially accepted Jandor based on the recommendation of a respected elder Statesman but later realised that it was an error.
Chief George also dismissed Jandor’s claim that he was appointed Vice Chairman of the PDP’s Disciplinary Committee, calling it “absolute nonsense.”
According to George, while he was nominated as a member of the panel, he declined to serve because he disagreed with the composition of the committee.
In his words; “We made a mistake in the PDP by listening to an elder who convinced us to accept him into the party, and I want to apologise to our party members for that. The elders gathered and made an arrangement with him, but he was the one who broke the deal.
“It would be an insult for a school Principal to debate with a Senior Prefect —I will not stoop that low . The party’s hierarchy has reviewed everything and concluded that he is just talking rubbish, to ppl.”
