Exactly 14 years today (Sun, 29 Oct 2006), I was involved in a plane crash. The plane, a Boeing 737 operated by ADC Airline, was on a passenger flight from Lagos to Sokoto, via Abuja. After a short stop at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport, Abuja, the plane took off again, heading to Sokoto with 100 passengers and 5 crew members. But some seconds or a minute after take-off, the plane began to loose altitude, crashed and burst into flames. The pictures below show the remains of the plane. At least 96 people died in the crash, my heart goes to these people and their families however, out of this wreckage God brought me out alive without serious injuries. How God saved me in this crash I can’t explain but I am grateful. Today, I raise an altar of praise to God. please do me a favour if you are reading this, as you take a few seconds to lift a voice of praise and thankgiving to God on my behalf. Thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ. Amen Peter Onuka (2020)

With the slim chances of surviving a plane crash, and the unlikely event that most survivors would come from the same family, 3 daughters of the former Governor of Kogi State Ibrahim Idris survived this crash. I mean not one, 3 of them

I can imagine you gratitude. I had a ticket for Dana June 2nd flight. But made a last minute change of plan to travel to Owerri to see a sick friend instead. On my way back to Lagos from Owerri, I saw the news of the crash. Had flown same aircraft from Lagos to Abuja on 31st May

I was coming from Gwagwalada when the crash happened about 10 mins earlier. I was the first Journalist to make it there and I broke the Story for Vanguard. I have never seen anything so horrendous. You and two other young girls made it. Congratulations.

My late Dad was supposed to be on that flight, but he asked a colleague to cover for him as he had a function in church. Unfortunately Uncle Sani (his colleague that covered for him) died in the crash.
