In support of the peaceful protest against hunger at the central venue in Ojota, Lagos, police officers handed out packs of drinking water to protesters.

A video shared online showed protesters eagerly receiving the water.

However, the cops sternly disallowed attempts by the protesters to block a portion of the road in order not to prevent vehicles’ passage.

About this development, Lagos Force Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted:

“Definitely, we will not allow breakdown of law and order, not under our watch!

“Protesters, please remain peaceful.”

He also narrated meeting some faceless people with whom he had previously had Twitter engagements.

He Hundeyin wrote:

“At the protest ground today, a young man walked up to me and said, ‘I drag you on twitter.’

“We laughed, shook hands warmly and I said, ‘You’re the dragger and I’m the dragee.’ I mentioned to him that it was the first time anyone would tell me to my face that he dragged me.

“We posed for some pictures, chatted a bit and bade each other farewell. Most importantly, with lots of laughter, we promised to continue dragging each other. 😁

“Life no suppose hard, abi?”
