Rivers State’s Sole Administrator has placed on suspension all political office holders and appointees who served the now suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The suspensions are with immediate effect, according to a statement on Wednesday, March 26, by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas.
It said that the suspension was in line with the powers conferred on the state’s Administrator, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Affected officials include:
- Secretary to the State Government (SSG)
- Chief of Staff
- Honourable Commissioners
- Chairmen and members of boards to councils of agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals
- All Special Advisers, Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants
The statement further directed the suspended officials to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
In cases where no Permanent Secretary is in place, the most senior Director or Head of Administration is to take over.
