A sitting legislator, top Nigerian politician and business captain, Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has been reported dead.
He was 52.
CEO of downstream oil marketer, Capital Oil, which he founded in 2001, Ubah was said to have suffered a cardiac arrest in London on Friday.
He is survived by his wife Uchenna, a Business Administration graduate from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, with whom he had five children.
Until his death, he served as a member of the Nigerian Senate, and represented Anambra South Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ubah travelled out of Nigeria to London two days ago.
In September 2022, Ubah escaped an assassination attempt by gunmen on his way to Nnewi in Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State.
No fewer than five persons in his convoy, including two policemen, were killed.
He survived as the vehicle he was riding in was bulletproof.
Last year, Senator Ubah defected from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the ruling APC.
During the week, Ubah fulfilled his pledge of ₦71 million to the APC in Anambra State,
Ubah emphasised his commitment to the APC, stating, “This substantial contribution will fund various party activities and initiatives, solidifying our position as a key player within the party.”
The same week, he expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the South-East Development Commission Bill into law, saying, it would addressed the region’s development challenges and foster unity.
