Nigerian police have granted bail to singer and content creator, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington.
Controversial Speed Darlington was released in Abuja to Lagos lawyer Deji Adeyanju after meeting bail conditions.
The musician was reportedly detained over a petition from fellow musician Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy who filed a complaint of cyberstalking.
In a video, thought to have triggered his problem, Darlington slammed Burna Boy’s use of the alias “Odogwu” and insinuated he belonged to the clique of homosexual circle of currently embattled US musician Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Speed Darlington was arrested in Lagos last Friday and flown to Abuja, where he was detained by the IRT team, which accused him of cyberstalking Burna Boy, real name Damini Ogulu.
He was kept at the section of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team’s Department in the Guzape area of Abuja
Darlington’s mother, Queen, had in a video message narrated how her son’s gateman informed her that Speed Darlington was taken away by Burna Boy and his team.
Kneeling down in the video to show, she begged Burna Boy to release her son.
Queen pleaded: “Nigerians please come and help me, my son, Speed Darlington has been missing for over four days now, after he made a video about Burna Boy and Diddy.
“Burna Boy came to his house with his squad and police and they arrested Akpi. Please, Nigerians, Akpi is my only son. Please, Nigerians help me and beg Burna Boy to release my son.”
