The northern part of Nigeria is also my North. I served there during my @officialnyscng
in 1995–1996. I was honoured to attend the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum, and in my two-minute address, I told the northern leaders, respectfully but firmly, that they have disappointed the North. To put it mildly. In truth, they have failed the North.
I reminded them that while mass abductions were happening, including the kidnapping of 315 schoolgirls in Niger State, they remained silent and “celebrating.”
After my remarks, I greeted many of those in attendance collectively and some individually, then stepped out onto the streets of Kaduna to speak directly with the masses, the real heartbeat of the North.
Yesterday was a great day in Kaduna.
