Super Falcons star striker, Asisat Oshoala, has firmly debunked reports that she is retiring from international football.

She spoke after Nigeria’s 10th cup victory with the 3-2 win over Morocco in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Speaking to reporters in Morocco, the six-time African Women’s Player of the Year dismissed the speculation as unfounded and baseless.

“I don’t know where that came from, but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” Oshoala stated.

The 30-year-old forward, who was part of Nigeria’s final 23-player squad for the tournament, played a vital leadership role throughout the competition — providing experience, energy, and motivation even from the bench.

Her contribution helped the Super Falcons secure their record-extending 10th WAFCON title, further solidifying Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.

Oshoala’s Remarkable Career Journey
Oshoala’s international career kicked off in 2013 and gained international spotlight in 2014 when she starred in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, earning the Golden Ball and Golden Boot. That same year, she was instrumental in helping Nigeria win the African Women’s Championship.

She holds the record as the first African player to score in three consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cups and now boasts four WAFCON titles: 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024.
