The Progressives Group is known to always identify with good governance and leadership in government, through monitoring those saddled with leadership responsibilities inside the All Progressives Congress (APC) and by playing an advisory role and giving encouragement towards excellence in governance.

In Ikeja, the Chairman of The Progressives Group, Hon. Shakiru Agiyon Wusu, and his team stood behind the APC Lagos State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi in gracing the 100 days in office celebration of the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD).

The Progressives Group, in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary, Prince Adewale Samson, to the Press, said the achievements were a remarkable display of leadership, service delivery, and community development, by the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), to mark his 100 days in office.
He commissioned Shanu Street and Balogun Street, the two major rehabilitated roads.
The group said: “This is a sign of many good things ahead to be executed under AKOD’s administration.”

The commissioning of the roads was performed by the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who arrived with a delegation of APC State Working Committee members. Their presence underscored the significance of the project and the confidence the party leadership has in the AKOD-led administration.
Pastor Ojelabi lavished praises on Chairman AKOD for making the party proud by keeping his promises to the people and improving the quality of life of Ikeja people.
According to the Progressives group, his 100 working days in office started with a series of impactful events. The celebrations kicked off with a youth-led governance initiative, where a one-day Chairman, Miss Zainab Ismail, a winner of the 2025 Ikeja Spelling Bee Competition, presided over the commissioning of a rehabilitated road and 12 renovated classrooms with modern facilities. He also commissioned some newly-rehabilitated roads within ikeja, Morenike Close and Aiyemojuba Street.
On education, he renovated 12 classroom blocks with modern desks, chairs, and learning materials.

On Healthcare, (AKOD) rolled out free medical outreach for 200 senior citizens, providing health screenings, medications, and financial support ranging from N100,000, N250,000 and above.
The youth are not left out by the launching of the One-Day Chairman initiative to promote youth participation in governance.
The Secretary of the Progressives group Comrade Shola Omolola, who also graced the occasion, praised the AKOD-led administration.

Omolola said that AKOD, who is also a seasoned comrade, has expressed commitment to delivering on the mandate and promises of improving the quality of life for Ikeja residents in just 100 days.
He said he has no doubt that next year’s celebration will be a milestone with more project commissioning and community engagements.
Expressing readiness and commitment to the progress and advancement of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole, the group said: “We will continue to proffer solutions to our challenges and policies to our Leaders, and then use the experiences gathered over the years for a better and prosperous Lagos State.”
