Tinubu Hosts New Alaafin Of Oyo

President Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received in audience the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Abdulakeem Owoade 1, his Olori, Abiwumi and his entourage at the State House in Abuja.

The President used the opportunity of the visit to personally wish the Alaafin a peaceful reign and urged him to work for the peace, development and progress of his people, Oyo State and Nigeria in general.

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris also witnessed the presidential reception for the new king in Abuja.

The 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, was crowned on April 4, 2025.

The Alaafin is the traditional ruler of the city of Oyo and a symbol of the Yoruba culture.

Oba Owoade succeeded the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.

The coronation was a significant event, marked by the presentation of a certificate and staff of office by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
