Tinubu Mourns Death Of Associate, Olowolafe’s Wife

The family of Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, the Chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) and a longtime associate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has announced the death of his wife, Gbemisola Olutayo Olowolafe.

She died on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, after a brief illness.

President Tinubu has sent condolences.

in a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, his Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), the President described the deceased as a woman who lived a life of compassion, charity and unwavering support for her family and all who were fortunate to have come in direct contact with her.

According to a statement by her daughter Mrs Olanike Anani, on behalf of the family, Gbemisola dedicated her life to uplifting those around her: “Her warmth, kindness, and quiet generosity touched countless lives, and her legacy of service and love will endure for generations to come….

“Further details regarding funeral rites and memorial services will be communicated in due course,” the statement further reads.”

Tinubu encouraged Dr. Olowolafe and his family to trust God’s divine comfort and eternal promise to mournful people.

“Death is a fate that will ultimately befall every individual. But for the people of faith, we are reminded that God will not abandon any of us when we close our eyes in perpetuity. May your lovely wife be ushered into the realm of eternal light, where darkness is forever banished,” the President says.

Tinubu also prayed for God’s grace and perfect peace on the Olowolafe family and for the peaceful repose of the departed’s soul.

Her husband, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, is a foremost Nigerian industrialist, businessman, and philanthropist.

Originally trained as a Medical Doctor, he has established a reputation as a distinguished corporate leader with several successful ventures in public infrastructure development, manufacturing, healthcare, technology, and education.

Olowolafe is the Chairman of Deux Project, a leading planning and infrastructure construction company with a national spread, which he cofounded in 1987; he also serves as Chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU).

Dr Olowolafe has chaired or sat on the boards of many notable organisations in Nigeria, including the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) and GZI Industries.
