The Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, has described the two years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the worst in Nigeria’s history since flag Independence in 1960.

In a Press Release signed by the Coalition’s National Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, to mark the two years’ administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who took over power on May 29, 2023, the coalition scored the current Nigerian leader very low.

“Two years ago, severe hunger came to town in Nigeria through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Government, in its most inhumane identity, ascended the throne. Insecurity became exacerbated. Youth joblessness assumed exponential implosion. Out of school children statistics jumped from twenty million to almost forty million. Inflation has lept to over 36%. Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad have been inactive because no Ambassadors to represent the country have been posted. Nigeria has become a sleeping partner in the comity of nations.

“The people in Benue and Plateau states and other parts of the country are being murdered cold blood en masse on a daily basis by an invading army of terrorists, killer herders, and bold kidnappers. Even Abuja, the seat of government, is not safe from these predators who daily prey on innocent and defenceless Nigerians.

“Our health institutions are now worse than mere consulting centers as the country’s medicare has totally collapsed. The masses bear the heavy burden of Nigeria’s health sector crises as our president and his cabinet find solace abroad with their families for medical treatment. He has abandoned Nigerians to the vagaries of the medical chaos in the country without any significant intervention from government which makes Nigerians die unnecessarily from treatable illneses.

“The country’s education is in a speedy retreat as standard of education is diminishing exponentially while access to quality education is an exclusive preserve of those in power and the wealthy who can afford to send their children to school abroad.

“The country’s debt portfolio has reached scandalous heights. Nigeria’s total debt, including external and domestic debt, is expected to reach a whopping One Hundred and Eighty-Eight Trillion (N188, 000,000,000,000.00) Naira by the end of 2025. One wonders what happens ro the billions of dollars accruing to the government in the aftermath of the wicked removal of fuel subsidy on Day One of Tinubu’s administration. Yet, the government of President Tinubu is still asking to borrow more. It is a deliberate impoverishment policy to mortgage Nigeria’s future up to five generations or more just to satisfy their own avarice and greed.

“In all of these, President Tinubu only concerns himself with seriously campaigning for his second term ambition whilst governance has been relegated to secondary consideration within less than two years in power. The President has started actively campaigning for second term for the past six months which is expressly in clear violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended and the Electoral Act. It is impunity at its crudest. His billboards and posters are all over the place since months ago.

“Nigerians are no longer free to express themselves, especially on social media, due to government’s misuse of power to suppress dissent through the security agencies. The civic space is being stiffled unnecessarily in a flagrant totalitarian manner.

“Nigerians are already tired of this government and have clearly rejected President Bola Tinubu due to his atrocious economic and anti-people policies for the past two years. Nigerians are aware that a second term for President Tinubu would be extremely disastrous and are already looking out for a credible alternative to replace him with in 2027. Nigerians cannot afford affliction to rise a second time.

“The opposition is poised to avail Nigerians a competent, patriotic, compassionate, creative president with a revolutionary mindset to fix Nigeria’s myriads of problem within the shortest possible time. Tinubu has only preoccupied himself with politicking in the last two years while abandoning real governance. That’s why Nigeria has been sinking under him for the past two years. President Tinubu has no answers to the socioeconomic and security challenges of Nigeria. Things can only get worse for as long as he remains in power as Nigeria’s President.”
