I am pleased to announce the appointment of Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, popularly known to everyone as BKO, as the new Director of News, a move that underscores the organisation’s commitment to editorial excellence, institutional leadership, and the continuous evolution of our news operations. Babajide Kolade-Otitoju is a highly respected journalist, editor, and media executive whose career reflects a deep understanding of newsroom leadership, public affairs journalism, and strategic broadcast management. His appointment is not only a recognition of his outstanding contributions to TVC News, but a natural progression in the evolution of our newsroom leadership and a strategic step towards strengthening the organisation’s editorial future in an increasingly dynamic media environment.

BKO joined the TVC family in 2013 as News Editor, where he immediately began to shape the editorial tone and production quality of the newsroom.

On October 1, 2014, he was appointed the inaugural Head of Station, TVC News Nigeria, a pioneering role in which he led the establishment, growth, and consolidation of the station’s editorial identity. Under his leadership, TVC News Nigeria developed a reputation for authoritative reporting, strong political and public affairs coverage, and professional newsroom standards. His tenure and strategic leadership culminated in a landmark industry recognition when TVC News was awarded Television Station of the Year at the Nigerian Media Merit Awards (NMMA) in 2018, one of the most prestigious accolades in Nigerian journalism. The recognition affirmed the station’s growing influence and BKO’s role in building a newsroom anchored on credibility, balance, and public trust.

As Director of News, BKO will provide overarching leadership over the News Channel, overseeing editorial strategy, newsroom operations, talent development, and content innovation. His mandate includes reinforcing ethical standards, deepening investigative and analytical reporting, and driving the integration of broadcast and digital news delivery to meet contemporary audience expectations.

I am confident that his vision, experience, and editorial discipline will guide our news operations into its next phase of growth.

I will like you all to join me in congratulating Babajide Kolade-Otitoju!
