Wike: Story Behind Me Asking Gov Fubara For N1bn

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said no Governor in his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) could call him an outsider, while also vowing never to lend political support to his home Rivers State’s Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

During an appearance on Channels Television on Friday, Wike also addressed the matter of him demanding up to N1 billion state funds from his now estranged godson, Governor Fubara.

Meanwhile, the former Rivers Governor denied accusations of being a mole in the leading opposition party as he took up the post of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in the rival ruling party.

He said:  “There is nobody, no Governor today in the PDP; nobody born of a woman can say I’m an outsider in the PDP. Who?

“See, before I take up the appointment, I wrote the PDP leadership.”

According to Wike, the battle line had been drawn between him and Fubara over the current Governor’s ingratitude to those who helped him to the position of Rivers’ chief executive.

He said, “I will never support Fubara in my political life again. Anybody knows me, it’s not about me. People laboured to put up a structure.

“People laboured; you wouldn’t have even taken the 50th position. I sacrificed to talk to the Ogonis; I sacrificed to talk to several other people who let us go this way.

“You turned it that I am asking for N50 billion, N100 billion. You turned up lies against me; I brought you up and put you here. Today, I turned out to be over-demanding.

“What is Wike demanding? In every politics or political family, you run elections under people, and people work together. We must have to keep our political structure.”
