A TikToker, Umar Hashim, widely known as Tsulange, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment by a Magistrate Court sitting in Gyadi Gyadi, Kano State.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, found Tsulange guilty of indecent public conduct after he appeared in a viral comedy skit where he was seen bathing in the middle of a public road, wearing a woman’s undergarment. The act, which was filmed and posted online, quickly gained attention but also drew the ire of authorities and conservative members of the public.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Hassan ruled that the content violated public decency and morality, sentencing the content creator to one year in jail, with an option of a fine of ₦80,000.

In addition to the sentence, the court also ordered Tsulange to pay ₦20,000 to the Kano State Censorship Board, which had initiated the legal proceedings, to cover costs associated with the investigation and prosecution.

The TikToker was initially arrested in June 2025 following the release of the skit. His case has since stirred debate across social media, with some defending his actions as harmless comedy, while others have hailed the judgment as a necessary measure to curb rising moral decadence in digital content.
